Winter Weather Update 2022

Prepare & Conserve

Winter storm Landon is expected to bring freezing temperatures to Texas beginning Wednesday evening, February 2nd, through Saturday, February 5th. As a result, Hudson Energy is asking customers across the state to conserve their electricity use.

Conserving energy during peak demand gives you the added benefit of a lower electricity bill. You can help your fellow Texans by doing the following:

  • Reduce your thermostat to 68 degrees
  • Unplug non-essential lights and appliances
  • Read this Texas Tribune article for winter weather preparation
  • Review current conditions in the ERCOT system. Click here.

Many of our customers experienced hardship during last year’s Winter Storm Uri. However, there has been considerable work to improve preparedness for the type of extreme winter weather the state experienced last year, including weatherization at power plants, better communication, and other improvements. Combined with voluntary conservation by Texans, we are in a much better position to withstand these types of events.

Customers should be aware that the likelihood of power outages due to power line disruptions from ice or tree falls increases during winter storms. Please monitor your local utility for power outage information and use the phone number to report any you may experience:
